• Deep cleaning or refinishing existing hardwood
• Luxury vinyl plank: water-resistant and often DIY-friendly
• Laminate: budget-friendly for dry rooms
• Painted floors or porch paint for some wood and concrete floors

Before you buy

• Measure carefully and add about 10% for cuts and waste
• Check whether the subfloor needs repair
• Price underlayment, trim and transitions too
• Keep a spare box for future repairs
